Plan markup and management

Mark up plan sheets with shapes, clouds, arrows, and text on layered groups — and manage multiple sheets and plan files in one editor.

The same editor that measures plans also marks them up. Switch to markup mode to draw notes on the drawing without touching your takeoffs.

Switch to markup mode

In the right panel, click the Markups tab. The left toolbar swaps to the markup tools.

Mark up a sheet

  1. Pick a tool in the left toolbar:
    • Polygon — outline an area.
    • Freehand — sketch freely.
    • Text — drop a text note.
    • Line — draw a straight line.
    • Cloud — draw a revision cloud around a change.
  2. Click on the plan to place points; double-click (or press Finish) to complete a multi-point shape.
  3. Set the color and stroke Width in the left toolbar before — or after selecting — a markup.

Note

Select a markup and click Create RFI in the top bar to turn it into a request that points right at the spot on the plan.

Layer markups into groups

Markups live in the Markups panel on the right, organized into groups so you can show, hide, or color a whole set at once.

  1. Add a group and drag markups into it.
  2. Use a markup's eye toggle to hide it on the drawing.
  3. Rename or recolor a markup or group inline.

Manage sheets and plan files

  • Use the sheet tabs at the top of the right panel to keep separate markup or takeoff sheets on the same plan.
  • The page thumbnails in the bottom bar move you across pages of a multi-page set.
  • Each plan file is its own upload in the project's Files — open any of them in the editor, and a takeoff can even span shapes across different plan files.

Don’t see this?

Markup and takeoff tools are for internal team members. External collaborators see the file but not the editor tools.
